Finished up some of the detailing work today on the model added some minor vents and fins on the body as well as some fans and grills on the front, so far this is starting to come together. I will begin some more detail work tomorrow on the body (possibly adding some panels) or maybe ill move right to texturing and use that and bump mapping to add texture to this, end of the day this is meant to be a sleek model so i think paneling the body will just take away from that
deadline for this is wednesday when ill go back to resuming animation
Added a fuselage and finalized the thrusters, did some work on the wings and added some volume to the model the cockpit is still drafty dont know how im going to work on that as time goes on, tomorrow i plan to add some details to the fuselage and in other spots here and there to being some life to this model
So the original drop ship for my animtion was dropped (for now, may come in as a secondary later on) because i thought to my self the concept was too heavily inspired from this concept art from a game. Yes at the end of the day as this project is for educational use its fair use but hey i thought if im investing to much time in this project why cut corners. So instead of posting up status updates on this project im going to go over my modeling process and create a fighter / vtol craft to replace the dropship that is currently dropped from my animation.
Stage one, blocked in the main features of the craft nothing fancy here just a few polygon cubes here and there
Finally got around the finishing everything but the head pieces!
Supper happy (for now) with the result the hands need more work though and i plan to get around to that tomorrow as this workless weeked away from mc’donalds has come to an end. My next shift is in some 3 hours and i plan to spend that unwinding to last of us. I actually even managed to touch up those shins and also blocked in a head piece for reference, now to carving in those heads
did some more work on the arms today got the muscles blocked in and did some touching up on the shoulder pads, i think thats it for today as im taking a break to go play last of us for a bit and rest up for the rest of the night
on the agenda for monday is the start work on the hands and then comes the head peaces for each of the main characters, thinking ill start by drawing them in first think i might actually make my target of this week for all the modeling.
Major Update today, Being off work the entire weekend is a blessing! Im able to put in much more work with a calm mind knowing i dont have to do the graveyard shift as mcdonalds. I halted work on the arm but instead worked on the shoulders, tomorrow i plan to do the arm before all im left with is fixing up the legs and designing the heads for my three main characters.
Honestly am super happy with how my modeling skills are being developed my rainguard project featured me just playing around with polygons but this i feel has so much more depth and weight it really pleases me
I aim to have this finished by the end of next week so i can begin work on the drop ships and other non organic models (while they will be more square than this i still aim to display my developed modling skills when compared to my previous rain-guard project)
Now to chill for the rest of the night
Managed to get more work done on the chest area today still some areas im not happy with but for now it will do as im dying to play LAST OF US, its just gone into the Ps3 so i think im getting about 3 hours out of it for now
Will resume work on this tomorrow I aim to begin building the hand now which will allow me to better work with the body and the legs that I am to improve the proportion of.
Updated the model quite a bit here added some sheilding and finished most of the ribcage, things are looking good so far
heading now to Ebgames to pick up my copy of last of us
tried to get as much done as possible as i know im not going to work when i have the game lying infront of me :P
So begins a new project, Having submitted my final two projects for this semester I now turn to my timely updated on my next project Called Lenno’s Last stand.
This is my major project, so im probably going to be graduating with this. Aims here are less on concept and more a demonstration of skills and techniques i have learnt over the past 3 years with After Effects, Cinema4d, Nuke and of course Editing in premiere.
So not going to reveal much on the story yet, as of now i have thrown away my original robot model and have begun re-modeling the main robot based a concept sketch. This is something new to me as before I would just block up whatever in Cinema4d but now im actually getting into detailed modeling and trying to make this body look allot more high res than before (at the cost of render time). So far after some 10 hours Ive managed to get the foot down up to the shin. Will resume work on this tomorrow or day after, but so far the challanges here are amazing, learning so many new ways of modeling and keeping my meshes clean at the same time!
Much more to come!
